true grenadine syrup is basically just pure pomegranate juice sweetened with sugar. you add orange-flower water and voila, you're done. a perfectly sweetened, bright, and colorful grenadine without the usually added corn syrup and dye that comes with the store bought version. this makes a flawless mai tai or planter's punch

100% pomegranate juice + sugar =
homemade grenadine

1 cup pomegranate juice- no sugar added
1 cup granulated sugar
2-4 drops of orange-flower water

heat pomegranate juice in small saucepan over medium  heat. heat until bubbles appear on the edge of the pan, but do not boil. after 5 minutes, remove from heat and add sugar. mix until sugar dissolves. add orange flower water and let sit to thicken into a syrup for 45 minutes. place in a jar with a tight fitting lid. refrigerate for up to one month.
